As-Built Plans
Project Overview
At DCMS, we conducted a comprehensive 3D laser scan and existing conditions survey of this 5,922-square-foot custom home in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The goal was to provide detailed as-built documentation that would assist the client’s renovation team in designing updates while maintaining the home’s original architectural integrity. By utilizing LiDAR scanning technology and high-resolution point cloud processing, our team captured precise measurements, ensuring that architects and designers had an accurate foundation for planning modifications.
Deliverables
High-Density LiDAR Point Cloud Data – Ensuring millimeter-accurate spatial documentation.
Georeferenced Orthophotos – Providing precise references for façade and interior modifications
2D CAD Drawings – Including Floor & Ceiling Plans for renovation execution.
LOD 300 Revit Model – Delivering a fully digital representation of existing conditions.

Our Role & Technology
Our team performed a terrestrial LiDAR survey, generating a high-resolution point cloud dataset that served as the foundation for accurate as-built documentation, including a LOD 300 Revit Model and AutoCAD floor plans. Tools Used:
Terrestrial LiDAR scanning and point cloud processing.
AutoCAD and 3D modeling software.
Matterport hosting for remote site exploration.
Key Challenges & Solutions
Architectural preservation: Captured the home’s original design with high-resolution point cloud data.
Remote collaboration needs: Delivered a virtual Matterport walkthrough to assist stakeholders working off-site.
Complex layout conditions: Provided detailed floor and ceiling plans through BIM and CAD modeling.
